Funding and Instrumentation
The WFPE is a non-profit arts education organization. At this time, all avaliable "funding" for WFPE occurs out of the pockets of our dediated staff and students. This also includes donating personally-owned instruments for the performance ensembles use. There is currently no way to reinburse the staff for their efforts, as their WFPE involvement administratively and musically occurs as a “labor of love” to be sure. A small fee determined by the basic finantial needs of the WFPE, paid monthly by the members, enables the organization to outfit the ensembles with some sticks, mallets, drumheads, hardware and similar percussive impliments, but not enough to purchase the required instruments themselves.
Although they are quite plentiful in many band rooms, the availability of percussion instruments to outfit ensembles of our kind are limited to what we have in our collective personal stashes (which is not currently enough). With future funding, plans for implementing a full compliment of marching percussion instruments (snares, tenors, bass drums, cymbals) along with concert percussion instruments including both mallet and auxiliary instruments, ie: marimbas, bells, vibes, xylo, chimes, gongs, timpani, aux inst. and like classical percussion instruments, will take place.
*Note to Directors - If you have Any extra/older percussion equipment/parts that you would be willing to donate towards our cause, by all means let us know! With work, many of these instruments are still useful, playable and would find a very good home in these kind of ensembles.
