Clackamas Community Band

About the Band

The Clackamas Community Band (CCB) is an all-volunteer ensemble of community members who share a passion for music. CCB is open to anybody who plays a band instrument with at least high school level ability. We strive to provide a friendly environment for people of multiple generations to grow musically — both on an individual and ensemble basis. This provides an opportunity for band players to continue playing well past their high school and/or college years. Students are welcome too. The CCB performs for local civic events, at senior citizen centers, and occasionally in community band festivals. If this sounds like fun, please join us! In our group, you will NOT find entrenched section leaders protecting their turf... We are open to mixing part assignments, and if you can play, you’ll be given a chance to shine immediately.

SCHOOL YEAR REHEARSALS
During the school year our band rehearses each Wednesday evening 7:30 at Rosemont Middle School in West Linn, Oregon unless instructed otherwise by the director.

Conchords Chorale

The Conchords is a community choir made up of members who come together from all over the Portland Metropolitan area, meeting weekly to rehearse a varied style of music. Our philosophy: the choir is a team of special people who come together to work, play, and create. We enthusiastically bring together out talents, joy, and the love of music to share with our audiences and each other. Our goal is to entertain while we express this enthusiasm through our music.

Under the direction of Don Anderson, the Conchords has two music seasons annually. In the fall, from September to December, the group prepares a Christmas program and performs a series of concerts during December. In the winter/spring, from January to May, a program of pop, show, folk, and jazz music is prepared for performances during May and June. Our focus tends more toward the choral numbers, but a limited number of solo and small-group pieces are sometimes available each season at the director’s discretion.

The Conchords is a non-audition choir, but it is helpful if new members have had prior music experience in high school, college, or another choir. Sight-reading is not required, nor is the ability to play a musical instrument—although we will certainly value your talents and may call upon you to help us out!

The Conchords was founded on April 6, 1982. It was an outgrowth of a choral class at Portland Community College, some of whose members decided they wanted to continue singing together. Over the years, the Conchords has grown from the original six to averaging about 40 singers.

The Conchords Chorale was incorporated in 1984 and is a charitable, non-profit organization whose purpose, as stated in its by-laws, is to “teach and train its members in musical harmony and appreciation (and) to give public and private performances…”
